About Grant's

The name, Grant's, pays homage to the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, who served from 1869 to 1877. President Grant earned his political seat after leading the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy in the American Civil War in 1865 as a commanding General. The 35-foot-long antique mahogany stand-up bar inside Grant’s restaurant in Stowe has a long legacy; Legend tells us that it was originally built in Harlem, New York. U.S. Grant was first entombed on Harlem's 131st Street adjacent to where this historic bar was found inside an old warehouse basement, highly distressed and in numerous pieces. The bar was rescued and carried back to Stowe, where it was then carefully restored and installed by local craftsmen, Dan Moody, Dave King, and Brian O'Toole in 2003. Come and see the cigar burns on the bar top from President Grant’s days!

Grant’s is a fun neighborhood bar and restaurant located inside the beautiful, historic Stowe Village Inn, featuring a cozy, warm dining room with dramatic outdoor views overlooking downtown Stowe through vast glass atrium windows. Belly up to the historic bar to meet new friends and sip on deliciously refreshing cocktails. The outdoor patio and veranda offer seating available during warmer months. The dinner menu rotates often with exciting food and drink specials, continuously changing craft beer selection, and a curated wine list that features bottles that are value-driven and ready for any special occasion.
